Kwara Police arrests woman for N47m fraud
Men of Kwara State Police command have arrested a woman simply identified as Halimat of Olorunkuse area of Offa, over a N47m fraud last Sunday.
Popularly known as Mama Muiz, the suspect was said to have defrauded A. R. A Coldroom, where she worked as a salesgirl, of the sum of money.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the state police headquarters by owner of the coldroom, Adebayo Halima of Jaburata Area of Offa.
“The suspect was managing the shop and failed to remit into the business’ account the money made from sales.
The police source further said that Mama Muiz deceived her boss at a point that she supplied the goods to two cold rooms in Ilorin and Osogbo respectively on credit.
“The suspect connived with two people, who lied to be owners of the cold rooms and told Adebayo that they were in possession of her goods which they hope to pay for as soon as they sell them.
“When the owner of the shop realised that the business was taking a downturn, she queried the suspect who could not account for N47m.
“The case was reported and Mama Muiz was arrested at her residence last Sunday. During interrogation at State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of the police command, she confessed to have committed the crime,” the source added.
The suspect was said to have also revealed that she connived with her friends, Pastor Yinka and Kudi to deceive her boss.
“The suspect claimed to have only misappropriated the sum of N14m. Investigation is ongoing and she has, however, given lead for the arrest of her accomplices. “
Efforts to get reactions of the state Police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the case proved abortive as calls and text messages to his mobile phone were not responded to at the time of filing this report.
…nabs 21-yr-old burglar in Ilorin
A 21-year-old businessman, Ezekiel Wentin of Sango area of Ilorin, Kwara State is cooling his heels in police net for burglary.
The suspect was alleged to have broken into a court bailiff’s office and carted away plasma television, one sewing machine, three stabilisers, a DVD player, generator set and two ceiling fans, last Wednesday.
According to a police source, the burglary case was reported at the ‘E’ Divisional Police Station, Kulende by Muhammed Hassanat.
“Police investigation led to the arrest of Wentin while his accomplice, one Idris Yunus is at large.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and being in possession of the stolen items.
Investigation is ongoing for the arrest of Yunus whose whereabout is still unknown.
In a related development, men of Kwara Police command have arrested four suspects for robbery.
The suspects are Kehinde Jimoh, Abdullateef Umar, Dare Alabi and Yusuf Owolabi.
They were said to have robbed one Kazeem Azeezat in her shop at Yebumot Hotel area, recently.
According to police source, the case was reported at Adewole “D” Divisional Police Station by the victim.
“The trader had reported that two men came to her shop on the pretext of buying sachet water (pure water). In the process of attending to them they stole N71,000 and mobile phone.
“Luck ran out on the suspects as the phone of one of them dropped in the shop. A number on the phone was dialed and the woman who picked the call revealed the suspect’s address at Itakure area, which was traced and led to his arrest by the police.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of Kehinde at Taiwo road and Abdullateef Umar and Dare Alabi of Gambari area.
