Offa Banks Robbery: Kwara Parastatals Board Chairmen warn against implicating Saraki

The Forum of Board of Parastatals Chairmen has cautioned against implicating the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in the April 5 Offa banks robbery incident.

Speaking after a recent meeting of the forum, in Ilorin, the Chairman, Hon. Lanre Aremu said it was wrong for anyone to link Saraki and the governor who both have noble and humble background to the dastardly act.

Aremu urged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris not to politicise a sensitive issue like the Offa banks robbery.  He said that ploy by the Police was totally condemnable; pointing out that the Senate President has remained committed to the welfare of the people of Kwara and Nigeria at large.

According to him, any attempt to denigrate the person of Saraki will be rebuffed by the people of Ilorin and Kwara State.

He however urged the executive to desist from further interference in the activities of the legislature and judiciary.

“How can anyone in his wildest dream link Saraki to a robbery incident against his own people. Any such allegation is an embarrassment to the people of Ilorin and Kwara State.

“We the forum of board chairmen of parastatals condemned in its entirety the erroneous link of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and our amiable Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed to the April 5 incident in Offa.

“We however appreciate the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II and the entire people of Offa for publicly dissociating the Senate President and Governor Ahmed from the robbery attack,” Aremu stated.

Speaking further, the Chairman said, “Such unfounded allegation is tantamount to character assassination, I implore the police boss to tender an unreserved apology to the Senate President, Governor Ahmed and their families, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari and the good people of Kwara.”
