Pakata Quranic recitation contest holds, Sunday

Arrangements have been concluded for the maiden Quranic recitation competition by an Ilorin-based socio-cultural organisation, ‘The Pakata Patriots’.
A statement signed by Abubakar Sidiq Imam, the Secretary of the association who doubles as Secretary of the Organising Committee of the competition on Tuesday, stated that the event will hold 10am on Sunday at the Pakata Town Hall, near the popular Ipata-Oloje Spare-Parts Market.
The statement added that the programme, which is being organised to perpetuate adherence to Islamic culture for which Ilorin Emirate is renowned, will feature candidates from selected Arabic and Islamic Schools located within and around Pakata community who are not more than 20 years old and whose recitation capacity will be evaluated on the first 10 chapters of the Holy Quran.
Imam added that the event shall be presided-over by Retd Group Captain, Saadu Ayo Abdulsalam while Dr. (Mrs) Sadiyat Olapeju Shuaib of the Department of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin will be the Chairperson with Dr Abubakar Imam Yakub Aliagan of the Department of Religion, University of Ilorin as the Guest Speaker.
