Not every Nigerian celebrity wedding requires Aso Ebi, giant cakes, and a star-studded guest list. Some stars are now opting for secret ceremonies on their special day. While for many, having a lavish wedding ceremony is a definitive goal.
Two days ago, it was reported that Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji secretly tied the knot in Portugal. However, her man is yet to be identified.
Let’s look back at secret celebrity weddings we still know little about.
Funke Akindele & JJC: Funke Akindele and JJC settled for a secret wedding ceremony last year after dating for few months.
The couple, who exchanged vows in front of close friends and family in London, is expecting their first child together.
D’banj: D’banj got married to his girlfriend Didi Kilgrow in July 2016, in a very private ceremony at his Lekki residence. They both welcomed their first child, Daniel, in May 2017.
Agbani Darego: 2001 Miss World, got married to her longtime love Ishaya Danjuma in a private ceremony on Saturday, April 8 in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Ishaya is the first son of billionaire businessman, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.
Darego beat 93 contestants from all over the world to win the 51st Miss World title in 2001.
Oritsefemi: Oritsefemi and his wife Nabila Fash got married in front of few friends and family at the singer’s new Lekki residence in May 2017.
Nabila is a Public Relations executive.
Joseph and Adaeze Yobo: The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2009. Adeaze was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2008.
The former Super Eagles skipper and his wife welcomed their third child, a baby girl, in January.
Toke Makinwa: Toke got secretly married to fitness coach, Maje Ayida in January 2014 after a 12-year relationship. It was at the time her fans thought their romance was over.
Their marriage hit the rocks in June 2015, after Maje impregnated his ex-lover, Anita Solomon who ultimately gave birth to a baby boy in July 2015 in UK.
Di’ja: The Mavin Records act got married to her love in 2015 at a private ceremony held in Kaduna. On July 1, 2016 Di’Ja announced the arrival of her baby boy and also confirmed that she had gotten married months ago.
Uche Jombo: Uche Jombo secretly exchanged vows with her husband, Kenny Rodriguez in a private wedding ceremony in America after her failed relationship with Super Eagles star, Ikechukwu Uche.
Stella Damasus: The actress secretly married filmmaker, Daniel Ademinokan, with whom she lives in the USA.
Daniel was formerly married to another Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon.
