By Matthew Denis

The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) realised the sum of about N20 million for the second quarter of 2018.

The General Manager of the agency, Alhaji Hammed Olufadi made this known yesterday, during an interview with our reporter in his office in Ilorin.

The agency had generated a total of N5.9 million in the first quarter of 2018.

He said, “The economy has improved during the second quarter of the year when compared to the first one. We are able to generate about N20 million during this quarter.

“We are looking at generating more revenue and I’m optimistic that things will improve in order to meet up with our N120 million target for this year.

“Electioneering will soon start and a lot of politicians will begin to erect billboards, hence we intend to enforce the laws of billboards properly. We are also determined to collect all revenues from every politician on the boards cited within the state and you know political billboards revenue is higher than the other billboards because we want to avoid unnecessary placement of billboards and you must be able to afford the money before erection.”

Olufadi emphasised that the agency is vigilant and ready to remove any billboard that is positioned illegally, adding that KWASAA has been meeting with politicians on regular basis to sensitise them on the need to avoid hate speech on their billboards.

“We advice them to avoid hate speech and inaccurate information that can cause chaos or tension in the public. We also want to ensure that billboards are not placed side by side by various political parties.”

Speaking further, he said to boost operation, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed through the office of the Head of Service (HoS) has approved the purchase of two vehicles for the agency.

The KWASAA boss however called on the public to comply with the stipulated rules and regulations by willingly paying for their billboards to avoid legal action by the agency.
