Foundation empowers widows in Ilorin

 

Over thirty (30) widows in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital yesterday benefited the kind gesture of N10,000 each from an Islamic foundation; Zakat and Sadaqat (Z&S).

The money was disbursed to the widows to boost their trades during a programme, tagged, ‘Street Market Support for the Widows’.

Speaking during the event, the state coordinator of the foundation, Muhammadu Thani Muhammadu Mukhtar however employed the well to do in the society to join hands and ensure that the less privilege especially the widows are cared for.

“We should join hands to assist our brothers and sisters through creation of jobs, empowerment. They need us as well as we need them, together will can make Kwara better.

“Our foundation has many ways it helps the indigents either by providing Iftar Saim (foods during Ramadan) or Zakat-ul-Fitr.

Speaking with one of the beneficiaries, Zanaib Hassan, she appreciated the foundation even as she pledged to use the money to boost her plantain business.

She said, “I thank God, the cost of all the plantain I sell is not more than N2000. But today, I’ve been empowered with 10,000 which will go a long way to improve my business.

In the same vein, Omoyemi Babatunde of mandate market stressed that he will use the money judiciously to revive his dying business.
