Stolen KWSG Tractor: 3 AFAAN members docked

 

The magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital yesterday docked three members of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAAN), Kwara State branch over the alleged negligence to take proper care of the state government’s tractor valued at N2.6million.
The three accused; Ahmed Alata, Ganiyu Raji and Mukaila Salaudeen were dragged before Magistrate Bio Saliu for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust mischief and theft contrary to section 97, 312, 327 and 288 of penal law.
The First Information Report (FIR) revealed that one Samuel Bamidele of Oke-Ola Oro in Irepodun local government area of the state who happens to be chairman of the AFAAN reported the matter at Ganmo Division Police Station on 8th January, 2017.
The FIR also mentioned that on 9th January, 2018, the matter was transferred from Ganmo Division to the Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department (CIID), Ilorin branch.
AFAAN chairman however alleged in the FIR that sometimes in December, 2017, ‘one Mahindra Tractor given to the association to assist it in cultivating farm lands was in custody of the aforementioned trio.
It further stated that the tractor was allegedly stolen from where it was packed by the trio in front of one uncompleted petrol filling station along Amoyo road.
Investigation revealed that the suspects criminally conspired not to take good custody of the tractor which resulted in the stealing of the said tractor.
“Further investigation led to the recovery of the stolen tractor steering wheel from Salaudeen…”
The prosecutor, ASP Jimoh Abdulah however informed the court to deal with the accused according to the law.
The magistrate, in his ruling admitted the suspects to bail in the sum of N4000 with two sureties in like sum while the matter was adjourned to 2nd of August, 2018.
