APC Chieftain, Baraje loses mum at 96

Mother of the former acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Barje, is dead.

Alhaja Aishat OmoAgba Baraje passed on yesterday at the age of 96 according to a statement by the politician’s Personal Assistant on Media, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi.

She was buried at the family’s compound in Baboko, Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.

Alhaja Aishat was survived by children and grandchildren including Alhaji Baraje who could not hold back tears when the nonagenarian was being laid to rest yesterday.

Meanwhile Kwara State Governor, Alhaji  Abdulfatah Ahmed has described the incidence as a big loss and a difficult vacuum to fill.

He urged the son to “Take solace in Allah” over the incident and remain steadfast.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, AbduIwahab Oba, Governor Ahmed said the death of Hajia Aisha, “at a time when his son, Kawu Baraje, is leading a political reformation and realignment in the country is such a devastating and shocking news”.

He said “We are, however, consoled that the deceased lived a pious life worthy of emulation and also survived by a son, among other children, who has shown uncommon committed to the progress and development of the country with great sacrifices and dedication”.

The Governor admonished the family of the deceased, particularly Alhaji Kawu Baraje to see the death as an act of God while praying Allah to grant the deceased the best of paradise and grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
