Gov Ahmed launches Health Insurance Scheme, today

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed will today launch the State Health Insurance Scheme.

The event holds by 9am at the Kwara State Banquet Hall, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Communications to the Governor, Dr. Muideen Akorede.

The statement said that the scheme was in line with the state government’s commitment to providing universal health coverage for citizens and residents of Kwara. The development follows the Governor’s accent to the Kwara State Health Insurance Agency Bill in 2017.

The bill replaced the highly successful Community Health Insurance Scheme and extends health insurance coverage to all citizens and residents of the state for a low annual premium.

Expected at the event are the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Robert Petri and Prof. Khama Rogo, who is the Lead Head Sector Specialist and Head of World Bank Group in Africa Initiative.

Partners of the scheme include Pharm Access Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, Medical Credit Fund Africa, Safe Care and Grand Challenges Canada.

…appreciates traditional rulers for peaceful co-existence

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has commended royal fathers from Kwara North Senatorial district for maintaining peace and harmony in the zone and the state.

Governor Ahmed gave this commendation on Tuesday at the Government House in Ilorin while hosting the royal fathers.

According to the Governor, the royal fathers have played stabilising factors in ensuring success of government programmes and policies in the region.

Governor Ahmed urged the Nigeria Police to do more in tackling various security challenges across the country by collaborating more with the traditional rulers who are custodians of values and traditions of the various communities rather than playing politics with the lives of the people.

The governor promised the police and other security agencies in the state more support in ensuring that citizens of the state are well protected.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar commended the Governor for always consulting with the royal fathers on policies and programmes of his administration.

Chatta pledged unalloyed support and commitment of royal fathers to the progress and development of the state.
