They were joined in the ill-fated journey by another friend and they rode on the same motorcycle until they got to Idofian junction when a Volkswagen car in the process of avoiding potholes reportedly ran into their motorbike leading to the death of the siblings on the spot.

Speaking with our reporter, yesterday, an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, said, “It was an unfortunate incident which left most of us in shock.

“The two brothers (Olatunji and Oladele) and their friend were on their way to a Fidau ceremony at Ajase-Ipo when upon getting to Idofian junction from Fufu around 9am, a car driven by a mechanic ran into them. The driver appeared to be avoiding potholes and apparently did not notice the motorcycle coming.

“The two brothers died at the scene of the incident and the driver abandoned badly damaged vehicle without being noticed by anyone. It was just this morning that we heard that the third person passed on too at the hospital,” he stated.

Speaking further, the source said the aged mother of Olatunji and Oladele, fainted when she was informed about the sudden death of her children.

“The two brothers are hardworking artisans who did not only cater for their immediate families but also their aged mother. We tried to keep away the sad news from the woman but when she eventually got wind of the passing of her children she passed out and was only revived after some minutes,” the source disclosed.

Meanwhile, the vehicle involved in the accident has been towed by officers from the Idofian Police Station while the remains of the deceased were said to have been deposited at the morgue of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
