Lions Club celebrates ex-District Gov, Ayobola


The International Association of Lions Club District 404 B2 Nigeria, Region 11 recently rolled out the drums to celebrate its immediate past District Governor, Lion (Chief) Ayobola Samuel.

The colourful event was organised under the region Chairperson, Lion Otunba Babatunde Olarinoye and held at the Royal Friendship Guest House, Oyun area of Ilorin.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Governing Board Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho who is also a former district governor of the association, Lion Prof. Abdulfatah Adeshokan, described Ayobola as an inspirational leader and great achiever worthy of emulation.

Similarly, the pioneer Chartered President of the association, Lion Otunba Kunle Osisanya, described the celebrant as a man who consistently abides by the rules of the organization adding that his accountability has strengthened the union’s activities.

Lion Peju, Lion Osho, Lion Bashirat 1010 and Lion Onilu Olamilekan in their remarks described Ayobola as a disciplined leader with integrity and one who engage people positively.

Speaking with newsmen, the celebrant could not hides his excitement appreciated the organisers of the programme saying he could not have achieved anything without the support of his colleagues.

He advised his successor to see the followers as volunteers who should be carried along in the day-to-day activities of the district without compelling them to do certain tasks.

“I want to implore our successors to lead by example. They must concentrate on the ethics guiding the association.

“They must also operate with all sense of modesty, honesty and they should be transparent. They must also encourage members to pay their dues which must be judiciously utilized,” he urged.

Meanwhile, Prof. Adeshokan, Otunba Osisanya and Dr. R.A Jimoh were given Award of Excellence for their unwavering support to the association while nine individuals were issued the certificate of participation.

Among the beneficiaries are; Lion Kola Abioye, Lion Dauda Osho, Lion Tosin Ijadunola, Lion Dr. Abdulsalam Olabisi, Lion Dr. Pastor Afolabi Olatunde and Lion Hasanat Akira, among others.
