Hajj 2017: Ilorin airport begins renovation

Ahead of the 2017 hajj operations, the management of the Ilorin International Airport has commenced renovation through projects executions.

The hajj operation at the airport for this year is is billed to commence on the 31st of July.

Some of the projects include renovation of  Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Administrative block, roofing of the entire hajj screening centre and installation of overhead reservoir.

Others are installation of street lights and replacement lightening instruments at the terminal building among others.

Also constructed is a new baggage equipment at the arrival and departure halls of the terminal building as well as reorganising of the commercial airlines stand equipped with new facilities.

Speaking on the development, the airport Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul-Azeez said ” the massive projects we are carrying is the directive of Aviation ministry to beautify and transform the airport to modern standard.

“We want the community around and people passing to know that this is truly an airport by the asthetic look.

“We are going to continue with the project with other phases such as landscaping and planting of more flowers among others”

Abdul-Azeez then called on stakeholders in Kwara State to support the airport to ensure safety of flight operations as a means of expanding business activities in the state.
