Education, tool for societal, economic devt – Omolewa Ahmed

Education has been described as a decisive tool for the development of any society and the economy.

This was the assertion of the wife of Kwara State Governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed during the official commissioning of Nurture Learning Academy(NLA), Asa Dam Road, Ilorin on Friday.

According to her, the role of education to the growth and development of any society cannot be quantified.

Speaking further, Mrs Ahmed described the school as one of the best in the state even as she appreciated the founder for the initiative at a time the state government and the public should come together for the growth of the education sector.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Hajia Bilikisu Oniyangi said,

“We are delighted that Nurture Learning Academy has joined the growing list of educational institutions in our state.

“As we all know, basic education particularly at the Nursery and Primary school level is critical to the emotional and intellectual development of a child. This will form the basis for his/her life-long journey.”

Speaking further, she enthused that Nurture Learning Academy is adequately prepared to provide quality childhood education that will prepare young children to become well-rounded individuals.

She added that, “On our part, the Kwara State Government remains convinced that education is the bedrock of sustainable development of any society. Indeed, education is an investment that pays off anytime and anywhere.

“In today’s knowledge-driven world, science education is increasingly vital, especially at the foundational level. In light of this, the State Government remains committed to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, starting from basic level.”

Speaking, the Chairman Governing Board of the school, Dr. (Mrs) Ayinke Saka applauded Mrs Ahmed for her commitment to the wellbeing of children, support and encouragement towards the founding of Nurture Learning Academy.

She described the school as unique among equals adding that the objective is not to turn NLA to moneymaking venture but a school that will guarantee all-round development of the pupils.

“For the comfort of the pupils, we have provided ultra modern facilities including portable water supply, computer room and adequate toilets to make your wards safe and healthy always.

“Also, our teachers have gone through series of rigorous tests and extensive scrutiny before being recruited just as our library is well stocked with books,” the former commissioner for women affairs in the state said.

Continuing, Dr Saka said pupils will be taken through Quranic recitation and memorization while adding that Close Circuit Television (CCTV) has been installed in strategic areas for the safety of the children.

“All these benefits and many more come at a very reasonable and fair tuition,” she said.
