You can’t impeach Saraki, stop exhibiting ignorance, thug mentality, PDP tells Oshiomhole

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lashed out at the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole stating that effort to remove the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki from office will fail.

The PDP warned Oshiomhole against exhibiting ignorance and thug mentality all in an effort to get Saraki out of office.

The APC Chairman had accused Saraki of not acting in the interest of Nigeria and asked that he (Saraki) should resign or be removed from office.

Oshiomhole expressed dissatisfaction at the way the Senate adjourned two weeks ago. He accused Mr Saraki of using his guest house as a place to write out the names of senators decamping to the PDP from the APC the day before the Senate adjourned.

“In any case, Saraki is not going to be the first senate president to be impeached and I doubt if he is going to be the last but definitely he will be impeached according to law and to democratic norms. The only way Saraki can avoid impeachment is for him to do what is honourable which again leads to the issue of character,” Oshiomhole said.

In response to Oshiomhole’s statements, Saraki reminded the APC chairman of how he “crawled” to him, seeking his support to become the chairman.

“His illegal plots, can only feed his insatiable ego and keep him awake at nights. But it will remain an exercise in futility,” the statement read.

“It is rather surprising that Mr. Adams Oshiomhole is behaving like a rain-beaten chicken, crying all over the place about Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, as if the Senate President is the apparition haunting his life and the sinking ship that he captains.

“Having decided not to join the pigs in rolling in the dirt; we would not like to be involved in any meaningless exchange with the demagogue now in charge of APC. However, because he claimed that he was reacting to the issues raised by the Senate President during his World Press Conference, we thought it necessary to give the APC chairman some attention.

“Alas, we found that instead of addressing any issue raised by the Senate President, his press conference merely showcased his obsession and those of his sponsors with Saraki’s removal, which he did without any decorum befitting of his age or his awarded office. He brimmed with hate, hurled abuses, threw tantrums, told lies, huffed, puffed. In the end, he said nothing.”

It stated that by his conduct and utterances, Oshiomhole, who accused Saraki of not acting in national interest needs to do more to convince Nigerians that his desperate desire to become party chairman is not simply to feed his over-sized ego.

“The position of Oshiomhole and his cohorts in the APC that the Senate President must resign is a mere wishful thinking. They will continue to dream about their planned removal of the Senate President. They will need 73 Senators to lawfully remove Dr. Saraki and they will never get that in the present eight Senate.”

…says it uncovers fresh plot to arrest Senate President, Deputy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it has uncovered a fresh plot to arrest Senate President, Dr Bukola  and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

The party also alleged that the budget of the electoral commission, INEC, sent to the National Assembly by the Presidency last month, had been sent to the presidency by the electoral commission since February.

The opposition party made these allegations in a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday.

Part of the statement reads; “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again uncovered a plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the cabal in the Buhari Presidency to use compromised security agencies and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to invite, arrest and detain Senate President Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.

“This is just as the PDP has unraveled fresh facts confirming that the pressure by the Presidency for the reconvening of the Senate is out of a sinister motive and not for any emergency in the approval of the budget of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2019 election.

“The fresh plot to detain the two presiding officers is part of renewed design to keep them out of circulation, ahead of Senate resumption, so as to enable the heavily induced APC senators, who are now in the minority, to throw up two of their members as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively on the excuse that Saraki and Ekweremadu failed to show up for proceedings in the Senate.”

The PDP noted that the new plot to cage Saraki and Ekweremadu, in devilish rehash of the Tuesday July 24, 2018 hostage-taking and invasion of their official residences by security agencies is coming after the August 7, 2018 failed attempt to use security forces to take control of the leadership of the Senate.

Apart from plots to arrest and detain Saraki and Ekweremadu, the PDP said it is aware of plans to use the EFCC and security forces to clamp down on their family members, including their wives and siblings as well as close associate, all in the effort to weaken their resolve.

“Moreover, investigations by the PDP further confirm that the insistence of the APC-led Federal Government on the emergency reconvening of the National Assembly, ostensibly to consider INEC’s budget for the 2019 election, is part of APC’s thicker plot to execute their premeditated ‘coup’ on the leadership of the Senate.”

PDP added that it was further informed that contrary to claims by the APC and the Presidency, INEC actually submitted the budget to the presidency since February 2018, only for the Presidency to submit it to the National Assembly in July when the legislature was already going on recess; with a view to enmesh it in a needless controversy.

Furthermore, the PDP counsels Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to stop acting saint, as Nigerians are aware that he is part and parcel of the actors behind the sordid developments playing out in the National Assembly.
