NYG: Kwara struggling with athletes’ registration as games start Sep. 4


…MOC sends warning to participating states

Kwara State is still battling with the registration of athletes and officials with less than one week to the commencement of 2018 National Youth Games (NYG), hosting by University of Ilorin.

4th edition of the National youth games will hold at the University of Ilorin Sports Complex between 7th to 17th of September 2018.

The Pilot reliably garnered that the host state are yet to confirm their readiness for the competition as they are still struggling on the registration of athletes.

As at the time of filling this report, no information has been revealed on the number of athletes that will represent the state at the 2018 youth games.

Also, the state is yet to signify the number of games they have registered, as well as the events to be competed for at the championship.

It would be recalled that Lagos State last week revealed that the state will present 300 strong athletes and will also compete in 34 or 35 games.

Though, the state Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem promised on Tuesday that the list will be available the second day but he couldn’t respond to a call put through to him by this medium on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Main Organizing Committee of the games has sent note of warning to all the participants states that violates the rules will be fined five million and coaches involved with be suspended for three years while the state will be banned.

Dr Ademola Are and his team are working hard to have a successful games.

North Central Co-ordinator Dr Patrick Uwagbale is optimistic that the athletes from North Central will do well at the championship that is strictly for the U-15 boys and girls.
