Plateau Attack: Suspected herdsmen kill pastor, wife, 6 others

 

About 24 hours after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Northern region, ended a two-day peace summit in Jos, the Plateau State, a priest with the Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN) LCC Abonong, Foron in Barkin Ladi local government council of Plateau State, Rev Adamu Gyang Wurim, alongside his wife and three children have been burnt alive by suspected herdsmen.

The church was also burnt down.

The suspected herdsmen also killed two persons close to the pastor’s house and attacked Dorowa village in the same Barkin Ladi LGC killing one person again.

It was gathered that the pastor and his family, who took fortress in their house, were killed when their building was rounded up and quickly set on fire by the suspected herdsmen.

Also, a woman, who lives near-by, was critically injured by gunfire and has been taken to a hospital.

Confirming the incident, Hon. Peter Gyendeng, member representing Barkin Ladi Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, who was on his way to the village, said, “There were attacks in my constituency by suspected Fulani herdsmen killing eight persons including a Pastor and his wife and three children burnt down in Abonong village and also one person killed in Dorowa while two still missing. On my way to the village, will get back to you please”.

When contacted as at the time of filing this report, the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev said, “Please I will get back to when I speak with the DPO of the area”.

It can be recalled that over 200 persons were killed in Barkin Ladi LGA in June 2018; as assailants in have attacked the area over a decade.
