Nat’l ID Card: NOA takes campaign to Offa LG

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has organised an advocacy campaign towards enlightenment of residents of Offa Local Government Area on the importance of obtaining National Identity Card.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director Programmes of NOA, Pastor Lucas Ige, who represented the state Director, Olusegun Adeyemi, emphasised the importance of National Identity Number (NIN), stating that getting registered would help the citizens and government in the area of database management and planning.

He urged participants to pass on the information to other residents of the community.

In the same vein, the Asst. Director, NOA, Offa branch,  Alhaji Dare Abdulganiyu noted that enrolment on the national database is once in a lifetime while identification continuous.

He advised those that had registered but yet to get their national identity card to be persistent as NIMC is producing the smart cards in sequence.

Speaking, the NIMC Area Coordinator for Offa, Hajia Mulikat Onawola said that registration is now open to children from age 0 to 16. She however added that the children are to come with their parents in order to be registered.

Onawola further stated that the NIN and national identity card could be useful during recruitment into public service; admission into schools; business registration, opening of bank account as well as when bidding for government contract.

Participants were also sensitised on the need to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards ahead of the 2019 general elections in the country.

Among the participants were; the vice chairman, Offa LGA, Hon (Mrs) Dorcas Ogunwole, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye who was represented by Chief Esinkin of Offa.

Also present were, the Council Secretary, Waheed Ibikunle, Supervisory Councillor for Agric, Hon, Tajudeen Raji and students from various tertiary institutions in the local government.
