Last week was very busy in Kwara State politically as some top politicians came out to openly declare their governorship ambition.
From the three senatorial districts in the state came news of those who have picked the intent forms across the political parties. But the state chapter of the PDP appears to have more aspirants whether the development has anything to do with the very expensive pricing of the APC will be clearer in the weeks to come.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed after many months of speculation, finally launched his senatorial ambition for Kwara South by picking the intent form. According to him, “In response to calls by my people and in keeping with my strong desire to upscale the excellent work we have done in all three zones of the state, through effective, purposeful representation, I have picked up the PDP nomination form for Kwara South Senatorial District.”.
The current Kwara South Senator from Oyun whom sources said have also coughed out the about N7m non-refundable fee for the intent form reportedly held meeting with members of his constituent on Saturday to intimate them about the development and assured that he is very much in the race. The pendulum is still swinging, but it will no doubt be a very interesting scenario.
Although he has been silent after the initial razzmatazz that greeted his declaration to contest for the guber seat of the Governor that saw him severe his long term romance with the Saraki dynasty, Moshood Mustapha has for a while mellowed things down leading to some of his supports asking what’s gwan. But it was reliably gathered that even within that shot holiday from the media space, the tennis freak has since picked his intent form since Thursday and waiting to square it out with other gladiators including his brother and boss of Sobi FM, Lukman Mustapha for the ticket.
Although he has launched his gubernatorial ambition for 2019 with jingles and graphics especially on the social media, his formal declaration is still being awaited and checks weekend from those that are close to him said the speaker of Kwara State of Assembly and leader of Dodo Farms set up in collaboration with other lawmakers will be doing the needful sometimes this week.
