Court ’ll rule appropriately on case – Bolaji Abdullahi

A factional chapter of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday said it has sued the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for overruling its state congress.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the faction loyal to the Minster of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Kayode Zubair, the congress upheld by the NWC was marred with irregularities.

He noted that the faction tarried a while before taking its decision on the matter to see how the national leadership will handle the matter.

While the state chapter conducted its congress at the Banquet Hall, the minister’s faction which has Hon Moshood Mustapha, Alhaji Gani Cook Olododo and its Chairman Bashiru Bolarinwa among others held theirs at the Arca Centre Event Hall in Ilorin.

But the NWC of the party upheld the Saraki-led faction in the state and throw out the other results.

Zubair told National Pilot in a telephone interview on Sunday that, “We have only tarried a while to look at the direction that everything will go and now that the party’s leadership has taken apparent stand, we have decided to go to court.

“Everything about the congress by the NWC was deliberately tailored against us and the whole process was flawed right from the onset to favour some inordinate ambition.

“We were denied access to nomination forms and we went out of our way to get it and yet we are having this. Other rules that also guided the exercise were further flouted,” he added.

But reacting to the issue, the National Spokesperson of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi told this medium through a text message last night that the court will decide if they have a case or not.

“Anyone is free to go to court. Let the court decide if they have a case or not. The NWC is aware of only one congress held in Ilorin and the outcome has been upheld. I am therefore not aware of any annulment..,” he added.

Recall that Abdullahi had earlier said all parallel congresses held throughout the country are exercise in futility and will not be validated by the party.
