Olofa unveils first economy summit in community

The ancient town of Offa, came alive yesterday as the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, unveiled the first economic summit at his palace.
The theme of the summit which was initiated by the Offa Club 80 is; “Transformation of Offa as an Emerging City – Prospects and Challenges” and it is expected to hold the first week of November.
Oba Gbadamosi appreciated the Offa Club 80 for their innovative thinking which he said has helped to develop the community in no small measure.
According to Olofa, everything in Offa is becoming new ever since he ascended the throne of his forefathers, adding that the contributions of the club can never be over emphasised.
The monarch therefore prayed for the club and Offa indigenes in general asking for more progressive development in the land.
In his address, the President of Club 80, Prof. Adegboyega Olatunji said the club determined to facilitate structures and institutions that will accelerate economic growth in Offa which would further help in slowing down the rural-urban migration which was the trend decades ago in the town and its environs.
The Don added that the concern of the group is to ensure the town can boast of activities that contribute greatly to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He recollected that the group recently donated the sum of N1 million to Offa Security Trust Fund towards the construction of mobile police barracks in Offa, construction, maintenance and management of Offa Township Library, establishment of JAMB centre for the conduct of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, award of prizes for the best students in science subjects in some selected secondary schools among many others.
