N/Pilot, foremost medium in Kwara – NBA

…reiterates Pro Bono service for publication

Considering its balanced news reportage and rich content, the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch has described National Pilot newspaper as the foremost medium in the state.

This was disclosed by the new Chairman of the association, Barr. Muhammed Idowu Akande during a courtesy visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the medium at Asa Dam Road, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Speaking during the visit, Akande commended the medium for its investigative work and objective reporting saying this attributes has placed the medium above his contemporaries in the state.

“When I see some of your lead stories, I commend your confidence. Today, National Pilot is the foremost news organisation in this state and no newspaper can compete with it.  You don’t pay lip service to anyone in your reporting and that is how journalism should be practiced.

“I have been following the medium’s report since the time of the NBA election and I must confess, your report is always balanced, which is quite commendable,” the NBA boss stated.

Speaking further, he said, “The last time the MD of this noble medium visited the NBA secretariat, I complained about the online presence of National Pilot but to my surprise, the site has improved beyond my imagination and expectation. National Pilot is now second to none.”

The chairman of the association however reiterated commitment to render free litigation service to the media outfit whenever the need arises

“The promise made by my predecessor still stands; we’re ready to defend National Pilot newspaper whenever you fall into the hazards of your profession.” He however

Responding, MD/Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Alhaji Billy Adedamola appreciated the Chairman and other executives of NBA for the visit.

Alhaji Adedamola however charged the new executives to leave a legacy of good service at the end of their tenure.

“What you will be remembered for after you might have left office is your good work and that has been my drive and I will want you emulate that because it pays.

“I appreciate your reaction towards our online presence and we need more of such reaction from the public. With the observations of our readers which we attended to, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki now reads National Pilot and he is ready to support us to achieve greater success,” Adedamola stressed.

Speaking further, he said the wide acceptance of the newspaper and its success were achieved through hard work and sacrifice.

For trying to protect the rights of the society, Adedamola said the medium had stepped on toes especially those at the corridors of power adding that such as never deterred the newspaper from doing its legitimate duties.

“So far, we’ve continued to play our part in the development of Kwara State as our responsibility is to ensure those holding public offices deliver on their mandates,” he said.
