27-yr-old remanded for alleged murder in Ilorin

A magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Tuesday remanded a 27-year-old labourer, Usman Umoru over alleged murder.

The accused person was accused of killing his co-labourer, Abdullahi Abu of Dutse village via Jebba in Moro Local Government Area of the state with a cutlass.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that the accused person committed the act after an argument ensued between them.

The FIR further stated that Abdullahi overpowered Usman in the course of the attack and collected the cutlass the deceased was armed with.

It revealed further that the accused used the cutlass to inflict several deep cut on his head which invariably led to his death.

The FIR also stressed that during the course of the investigation, the accused person was arrested while the cutlass used to perpetrate the act was also recovered.

Abdullahi was dragged before Magistrate Hauwa Buhari for culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Adisa Akinjide prayed the court to remand the accused person in prison pending the completion of police investigation.

In his ruling, the magistrate remanded the accused person in Federal prison while the case was adjourned to October 9, 2018.
