There was palpable tension among residents of Agbo-Oba 9pm on Monday as four suspected cultists unleashed terror on a middle-aged man, popularly known as Wande Coal.

The victim was reportedly shot before being matcheted to death by his assailants. He was said to have been trailed by the suspected cultists for some minutes before he was eventually murdered.

National Pilot findings revealed that Wande Coal’s assailants were armed with ammunition and weapons such as gun, cutlass, axe among others on both hands.

According an eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, “Initially we thought the police were chasing some criminals which is the usual practise in Agbo-Oba.

” It was not until they shot and axed him to death before taking to their heels that I realised they are not security operatives.”

Speaking further, the eyewitness claimed the victim was not their target but a gang member of their target who escaped.

When contacted the Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident, saying it is still under investigation. He however said no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
