A Non Governmental Organisation, Nigeria Youth Decide (NYD) has cautioned politicians against buying of votes and use of youths as political thugs in the 2019 general elections.
The Kwara State Coordinator of NYD, Comrade Daniel Ayantoye stated this during a rally organised to mark the 58th Independence Anniversary celebration of Nigeria in Ilorin on Monday.
Speaking at the take off point of the rally, the Coordinator said, “This event is organised to warn our politicians against inducing voters through buying and selling of votes.
“We are aware that we are in the electioneering period and we know that the youth are their target for political thuggery and other inimical acts.
“We are calling on the public and stakeholders to guide against the use of the youth. Also, our brothers and sisters should rather devote their energy to more productive ventures,” he said.
Ayantoye stated that the sensitisation is imperative in order to ensure the 2019 election is fair and peaceful.
According to him, after the induction of executives of the group, NYD will set out to empower youths nationwide.
The rally which involved hundreds of youths took them round major streets of Ilorin, the state capital including Ibrahim Post Office, Taiwo Road, Offa Road and Challenge area.
