By Adebayo Olodan
Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has said despite the numerous challenges facing the country, Nigerian must remain an indivisible entity.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Alhaji Muyideen Alalade, stated in his goodwill message during the celebration of the 58th Independence Anniversary of the country in Ilorin, on Monday.
According to him, it is imperative Nigerians remain united in order to ensure the continuous existence of our nation as one inseparable and united entity despite all challenges.
“Let me congratulate all patriotic Nigerians for this 58th Independence celebration which is remarkable in the history of our dear nation. It is therefore important for us all to jealously guide our freedom and do nothing that could truncate the progress of the nation.
“It is evidently clear that the programmes of the present administration have transformed our great nation especially through diversification of the monolithic economy of Nigeria to Agriculture,” he said.
Speaking further, Ahmed said under the present administration, “Youths restiveness has changed to youths empowerment.
“Besides, the nation’s security institutions have been duly empowered to enhance national security.
“These attainments facilitated multiple investments with backward integration effects on employment generation, poverty reduction and wealth creation.”
The governor however urged Nigerians to approach the forthcoming general elections with a sustainable habit of brotherhood and to eschew chauvinism, political discordance and sectional interest. These, he said have a tendency of tearing the country apart and impede the pace of development and progress.
Ahmed assured residents of the state that his administration will continue to make life more meaningful to the people. He however pleaded for continued support, understanding and prayers for the present administration to lead the nation to greater heights.
