Saheed Popoola dumps reps ambition, to re-contest KWHA seat

The lawmaker representing Balogun/Ojomu constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Saheed Popoola has dumped his senatorial ambition to re-contest the assembly ticket.
Saheed, the only member who did not defect with the other twenty-three lawmakers while speaking during a telephone chat with our reporter on the issue last night said he had to take the decision because of Offa community.
According to him, I have to step down for my mentor and the community because it will not be politically wise to continue when Lola Ashiru has emerged as a senatorial candidate. It will be politically disadvantage for Offa at the end of the day. I have step down for Gbenga Power from Irepodun” he added
Popoola had earlier released a statement on the issue thus:
“I wish to humbly inform you of my decision to step down my APC ticket to contest the Federal House of Representatives seat to the Oyun/Offa/Ifelodun federal constituency in the 2019 elections. This, I’ve done, in the interest of my people, my party the APC; and in support of my boss and mentor Arch Lola Isah Ashiru.
Of course, this was by no means an easy decision for me and all stakeholders and I’m sure that many of you too may find it difficult to accept.
However, we all must recognise that the key to achieving great successes is often embedded in huge sacrifices.
