Man docked over attempt to snatch police officer’s motorcycle

The Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital on Tuesday, remanded one Samson Moses for allegedly attempting to snatch a police officer, Andrew Jacob of ‘A’ Division Command’s motorcycle at gun point.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the police officer reported the matter at the state ‘A’ Division Police Command stating that he narrowly escaped being shot when he was accosted at gun point while riding his motorcycle on 10th October, 2018 along Adewole/Adeta road in Ilorin.
The complainant stressed that on getting to Adeta roundabout where he met some members of the vigilante group that he informed them and swung into action to arrest Moses .
The FIR further noted that Moses confessed to the crime and also mentioned one Wale who is now at large as member of his group.
Investigation conducted at the CIID, Ilorin revealed that Moses conspired with Wale who is at large to commit the crime.
The accused was dragged before Magistrate Nurudeen Adeyanju for criminal conspiracy, attempt armed robbery and illegal possession of firearm contrary to section 6 (B) and 2 (1) (2) of armed robbery and firearms(special provision) at cap RII law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
The prosecutor, Insp. James Odaudu prayed the court to remand the accused person in prison custody pending the outcome of the police investigation on the matter.
Magistrate Adeyanju however remanded the accused person in prison while the case was adjourned to 12th November, 2018.
