TAMPAN 2018 Retreat: Kwara thespian, Temilola wins ’Best Actress‘ award

An upcoming Kwara-based thespian, Temilola Olanrewaju has won the ‘Best Actress’ award in the 2018 Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practiotioners Association of Nigeria [TAMPAN], held last week in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The 29-year-old actress, who hails from Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, defeated nine other actresses from Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Kogi, Niger, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos and Abuja at the three days retreat.
For her skill on stage, Temilola smiled home with the star prize of N250, 000 and a commendation certificate.
Similarly, Kwara State won the award for the third best troupe at the retreat, which was sponsored and declared open by the Ogun State Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun.
Oyo State came first while Lagos and Ogun placed 2nd and 4th respectively.
Among the guests speakers in the event, which was largely attended by movie marketers, actors actresses and movie producers is Kwara-born Kunle Afolayan.
Upon arrival in the state, the team was received on Saturday at the Arts Council, Geri-Alimi, Ilorin, by the Director, Comrade Abraham Oyewole and the National Treasurer of TAMPAN, Alhaji Abdulmalik Olorunfemi.
Speaking on the feat of Kwara State at the retreat, the Governor of TAMPAN in the state, Alhaji Abdulfatah Adeniyi Dan Kazeem appreciated Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for his support and for providing an enabling environment for practitioners in the entertainment industry.
The outgoing governor said Kwara TAMPAN has recorded a lot of achievements under the present administration, adding that the feat of Temilola is a testament that talents abound in the state.
While speaking with our reporter yesterday, Temilola, who has acted in over 10 movies including Agidi Eda, Ashabi Oni Kona Kona and Eje Oba among others promised that she will continue to do Kwara State proud.
“Permit me to appreciate my seniors and elders of Kwara State TAMPAN. It was never an easy ride when I started in the industry in 2007 but today, I am glad to do my state proud and I intend to surpass this achievement,” she said.
It would be recalled that Lagos State hosted the 2017 edition of the retreat while Oyo State will host the event next year.
In a related development, election for new leadership of TAMPAN in Kwara State has been scheduled for November 29, 2018 with Olu Amusan (Torotoro), Suleiman Ayodeji (Akinkanju Ode) and Rasheed Adeoti, otherwise known as Adeyi, set to battle for the Governorship seat.
