Respite came the way of some Ilorin residents with eye defects as the President of Ilorin Lions Club International, Lion Adeoti Oluwaseyi donated free eye glasses at the Civil Service Clinic last Wednesday.
The programme tagged; ‘October 2018 project’ had scores of members of the Ilorin Lions Club, ophthalmologists, civil servants and market women in attendance.
Speaking at the event which kicked off 10:30am, the donor, Lion Adeoti said that the gesture was part of the many programmes of the Lions Club targeted at impacting on the society.
He said, “Eye being one of the most sensitive organs of human deserves to be given utmost attention, hence it is imperative that if we notice any difficulty in our vision, we should endeavour to visit an ophthalmologist.
“We urge you to accept this as part of the contributions of the Lions Club and we will continue to do more for humanity.”
Speaking, an ophthalmologist at the Civil Service Clinic, Dr Y. Ayinla appreciated the Lions Club President for the gesture saying it will go a long way in reducing the challenges faced by patients with eye defect.
The ophthalmologist however implored other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture of Adeoti to make the society a better place for all. No fewer than 30 people benefitted the free eye glasses.
