Scores of protesters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state have staged a peaceful protest against alleged hijack of the party structures by those who recently defected to the party.

The protesters under the aegis of Concerned Foundation Members of APC gathered in front of the National Secretariat in Abuja to protest alleged marginalisation.

The protesters who later met behind closed door with National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu warned that if the problem is not redressed, it could affect the fortunes of the party in the 2019 poll.

The leader of the group, lsiaka Toyin Warah, who later addressed newsmen, disclosed that they have met with Issa-Onilu and presented their demands.

He said, “The new NPS, Lanre Issa-Onilu is a stakeholder in Kwara APC, we have met him and presented our grievances but we are yet to reach concrete conclusion.

“As stakeholders in the Kwara project and APC, we have a responsibility to refresh the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party on the way out of our self-imposed troubles.

“We are concerned about coasting home to victory in the 2019 election”.

Recall that some aggrieved members of the party last week occupied the party’s secretariat along Sango road for over two days and vowed to remain until their demands of allege imposition were redressed by its national leadership

The group under the aegis of Concerned APC foundation members sat all night from Saturday to Monday morning last week.

Addressing some newsmen who were present during the event, the leader of the group, Hon. Isiaka Toyin Wara from Ilorin West local government demanded the reversal of the candidates announced by the party adding that 50 percent slot be ceded to foundation members.

He decried the sidelining of foundation members despite the sacrifices they have made for the party.

…Christian Youths demands Dep Gov Slot

By Mumini Abdulkareem

Christian youths in the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have appealed to the leadership of the party to allot the position of the Deputy Governor to a Christian candidate that is below fifty years of age.

The group made this known in a press statement recently issued by the secretary Hon. Adeola Stephen adding that the party’s gubernatorial candidate needs a deputy that is young, vibrant and energetic to give the needed support and drive to assist Alhaji Abdulraham Abdulrasaq, the candidate of the party.

According to the leaders of the forum, until the youths are properly carried along, the transformation the party is planning to bring to the state might experience hiccups adding that the quest to emerge victorious in 2019 election requires the collaborative efforts of all members of the party.

“We appeal to the leadership of the party to allot the position of the Deputy Governor to a Christian youth that is below fifty years old.

“This is because the party’s gubernatorial candidate, AbdurRahman AbdulRazaq needs a running mate that is young, vibrant and energetic to serve as a dependable ally and give the needed support and drive.

“By so doing, the party would have succeeded in carrying everybody along and respond to the religious sensitivity our multi-religion society.

“Until the youths are properly carried along, the transformation that the party is preparing to bring to the state might experience hiccups. The quest to emerge victorious in 2019 election requires the collaborative efforts of all members of the party”, he added.
