KWSG drags artisans to court over non compliance of court order

The Kwara State Government, Bureau of Land yesterday dragged some artisans to a magistrate court sitting in the state capital over non compliance of court order.
The accused persons; Riliwan Olaitan, Ogunkola Omotayo, Oladele Yemi, Hamsat Mufutau and Yusuf Nurani, were said to have conspired with one Wasiu, Toyin and Kayode claiming that they were bonafide owner of the land.
The accused were arraigned before Magistrate Bilikisu Baraje for criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and mischief contrary to section 97,348 and 328 of Penal Code law.
The Police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that in October 2018, Kwara state government through the Bureau of Land sought the enforcement of Supreme Court judgment to take possession of land opposite Royal Shekinah along Kwara furniture road which had been subjected of litigation.
More so, the FIR stated that adequate notice was given to the artisans who are working on the land to vacate the facility.
On 23rd and 24th, October 2018 the government surveyors from the office of the Surveyor General decided to execute some work on the land and eventually errected beacon on the property.
The accused person’s counsel, Barr. Toyin Onaolapo prayed the court to grant his clients bail on a liberal term.
The prosecutor submitted that the accused people are just working on the land against the order of the court urging the court to remand them in prison.
Magistrate Bilikisu however remanded the accused persons while the case was adjourned to November 13, 2018.
