FG acquires fighting aircraft

The Federal Government has acquired three multi-role combat aircraft developed jointly by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation of China.
The development was posted online on Sunday describing the JF-17 to be used for aerial reconnaissance, ground attack and aircraft interception.
The aircraft will assist the Air Force in the ongoing war against the insurgency in the Northeastern part of Nigeria.
Recall that the Boko Haram insurgents attacked and wiped off a village at Borno State last Thursday.
Nigerian troops repelled another attempt by Boko Haram jihadists to overrun a military base in northeast Nigeria, military and civilian sources told AFP on Tuesday.
Dozens of jihadist fighters from an Islamic State-backed Boko Haram faction attacked the base on Sunday in the village of Kekeno, near the garrison town of Monguno, in Borno State.
Recent months have seen repeated attacks on military bases in the northern part of Borno, although Nigerian commanders have strongly denied reports of heavy troop casualties.
