2 husbands remanded for allegedly harbouring criminals as wives
The Upper Area Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital, on Tuesday, remanded one Abdullahi Useni and one Lateef Yusuf over alleged harbouring of criminals and theft.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that on November 1, 2018, one Alice Adedeji of Idi Ogede, Ilorin, reported the accused to the CP Monitoring Unit ‘A’ Division that their wives: Blessing Useni and Bidemi Lateef came into her house to beat her up.
It further revealed that before then, Useni and Andullahi had been threatening the complainant that one day their wives will beat her up.
The complaint charge stated that, wives of the accused persons eventually beat the complainant up when she asked the later of the whereabouts of her yam and fowl.
Useni and Lateef’s wives, beat the complainant till she became unconscious. It was alleged that the sum of N60,000 was removed from her waist bag, including a Nokia Handset valued atN10,000 and a gold necklace which was also valued at N80,000.
Useni and Lateef whose wives where at large were dragged before Justice Sunday Adeniyi for criminal conspiracy, hiding of offender, aiding and abetting, harbouring criminal and theft contrary to sections 97,167,93,40 and 287 of the penal code law.
The prosecutor, Mojisola Alamokun therefore prayed the court to remand the accused persons saying investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
Counsel to the accused persons, Henry Adekunle prayed the court to grant the accused persons bail, adding that their freedom will not jeopadise police’s investigation.
In his rulling, the Judge, Adeniyi remanded the accused persons in prison, while the case was adjourned to November 14, 2018.
