3 herdsmen remanded over alleged murder

The magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital on Wednesday remanded three herdsmen; Ismaila Musa, Abubakar Mohammed and Umar Mohammed over alleged murder.

The police First Investigation Report (FIR) revealed that the case was transferred from Divisional Police Headquarters, Oke-Onigbin to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Ilorin for discreet investigation.

It further revealed that on October 23rd, 2018, that one Bolaji Adebayo of Edidi area in Isin Local Government Area of the State reported that some Fulani boys engaged themselves in a fight.

During the fight, one Abubakar Alhassan of the same address was hit with a stick in his head.

The following day, when Alhassan’s condition was worsened, he was taken to Awoye Clinic and Maternity Center where he eventually died.

According to Medical examination, it was disclosed that the deceased died as a result of the assault received while fighting.

In order to unravel the culprit behind the act that led to the death of Alhassan, the accused persons were arrested.

Investigation further stated that, Musa admitted and confessed to have been the person who hit the deceased with stick on his head.

The accused persons were dragged before magistrate Mohammed Aluko for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to sections 97 & 221 of Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Insp. James Odaodu prayed the court to remand the accused persons as the case is a capital offence and that it is not ordinarily bailable.

In his ruling, Aluko remanded the accused persons in prison while the case was adjourned to 15th November, 2018.
