Kwara Express appeals for more buses

In a bid to expand operation and generate more revenue in the state, the management of Kwara Express has appealed to the state government for provision of more buses.

Speaking on the backdrop of complaints by passengers over undue delay, the Acting Managing Director of Kwara Express (Harmony Express), Mr. Taiwo Fadipe, stressed the need to increase the fleet of buses for the transport business.

In a chat with Pilot Business on Tuesday, he said, “Our fleet is presently not up to 70 buses and we are expecting more, probably above 100 buses.

“We are trying to partner the private sector.  We’re still repaying the infrastructural bank loans we collected for the 22 buses. Therefore, we cannot take another loan for now. We’re also seeking state government intervention on the issue, “he added.

The acting MD said, “We have been moving forward trying to meet our daily obligations. Salaries are being paid, we’re not owing, we buy fuel and pay our staff and gradually, we are clearing the infrastructural bank our loans.

“Some agencies and people are owing us and we hope they pay us so that we can repay the bank loan fully. The major challenge we have is this payment to infrastructural bank but now that we’re entering the peak period we should be able to clear more of the outstanding.

Fadipe stressed that they have started the campaign for ember months in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and Vehicle Inspection Officers with in-house training for drivers.

“We have speed limiters installed on the vehicles already therefore, our drivers will abide by the laid down rules and regulations,” he assured.
