147 Students benefit N7.5m Agbaji Scholarship

The Agbaji Education Scholarship Committee has expended the sum of N7.5million between 2017 and 2018 on 147 indigent students.
The committee further stated yesterday that the beneficiaries cut across various tertiary institutions.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the committee, Engr. Salau Alabi Monye said that the scheme is divided into three segments.
He added that the event was in commemoration of the late philanthropist and Kwara State icon, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki who passed on few years back.
“In the past, a total number of 86 students had benefited from the award and today, the committee intends to give 61 students from various universities, colleges of education and polytechnics both private and government-owned the sum of N1.755million while another 47 will be given between N25, 000 and N30,000 each.”
Speaking with this medium, a beneficiary, Kolawole Baliqee,s appreciated the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki for his support towards the education of natives of Agbaji community.
“I thank the committee and Dr Saraki for encouraging us to move on with our education. May God help and protect him,” another recipient, Akaje Amusa stated.
In a related development, a book titled; “Constitution and Constitutionalism in West Africa” authored by Mallam Yusuf Habeeb Opeloyeru was launched at the event.
Speaking to our reporter, Opeloyeru, said the book is targeted at broadening the knowledge of tertiary institution students across Nigeria.
Meanwhile, a prayer session was held for the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, led by Imam of Agbaji, Aminullahi Tantolohun.
