Kwara police arrests 2 for defrauding businessman N31m

Two suspected fraudsters, David Ekundayo and Alalade Abosede have been nabbed by men of the Kwara State Police Command over alleged N31,083,500 scam.
The suspects alongside their accomplices, Michael Oluwafemi and one Felix, now at large, defrauded a businessman, Adeyemi Ayinde of the said sum.
It was gathered that the suspects had scammed the victim of the money on the pretext of doing business with him.
According to a police source, a petition was written to the state Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Fafowora, over the matter by the victim.
“Ayinde reported that the suspects approached him to invest in their company,  International Labour Rewards(ILR Investment Services Limited).
“The suspects claimed they have their head office in Osogbo and its branch here in Ilorin. They said their company deals in financial investment,” the source added.
“The victim, who agreed to invest his money paid money into the  Diamond Bank  and  FCMB account numbers provided by the suspects.
“The account numbers are 0097172887 Diamond Bank,0098493530 Diamond, 009908851 Diamond,0101612871 Diamond,0100500722 Diamond, 5079913014 FCMB bank.
“The victim later discovered that the Ilorin office of the company has been closed down and could not get in touch with the suspects anymore,” the source  narrated.
Following the petition to the CP, it was further gathered that policemen were assigned to investigate the matter and arrest the culprit.
“The phones of the suspects were tracked, which led to the arrest of two of them. While the other two are still at large.
“The suspects later confessed to be accountants of the company and could not give satisfactory account of the money paid by the complainant. The investigation pointed at the fact that they had intent to defraud their victim.”
When contacted over the matter,  the state Police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said he would get back to our reporter. However, he was yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
