Abu Aziz, Nwagua, 18 others storm Sand Eagles’ camp

 

Beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles veteran, Abu Aziz will be joined by Nigerian league star, NwaguaNyimi and 18 other players at the national team’s camp in Badagry, Lagos.

Footballlive.ng can report that this is sequel to a statement by the media committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday, which put their names in the roster of 20 players in Coach AuduAdamuEjo’s latest list of invitees.

‘Ejo’ disclosed that the team will camp at Aivoji Beach, Badagry, ahead of next month’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt.

The two time African champions will tango Cote d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Libya, Tanzania and hosts Egypt at the continental spree from December 8th – 14th in Giza, Cairo.

The competition in Egypt will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled for Paraguay.

Nigeria won the 2007 and 2009 African Beach Soccer Championships, and finished as runners –up in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2016.

The Super Sand Eagles were close to the semi-finals of the 2011 Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy before losing in extra time to Brazil.

The last edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations held in Lagos in December 2016 and also served as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in The Bahamas.

However, Ejo’s team could not make the best of home advantage, as Senegal won the tournament, with Nigeria finishing as runners –up.

Nonetheless, both teams represented Africa in The Bahamas, and Ejo says his squad will try to do better this time out in The L;an do The Pharaohs.
