2018 NSF: KWIRS promise state athletes N500,000 for gold medal

 

Kwara Athletes’ hope of winning medals in the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival has received a big boost as Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) promised to reward athlete with N500,000, N300,000 and N200,000 respectively for winning gold, silver and bronze medal.

The Chairman of KWIRS Mr. Muritala Awodun stated this on Tuesday while presenting sports kits worth N4.4m to the contingents that will represent the state at the 2018 NSF during the inauguration of the 27th Sports Association held at the Kwara Stadium Comple, Ilorin.

Awodun noted that the organisation decided to supports sports as social responsibility and also to encourage the athletes, who are representing the state.

Speaking earlier, the Director of Sports Coach Tunde Kazeem had praised some athletes that have won laurels for the state in the last four years.

He charged the newly elected members of the 27 sports association to work assiduously to ensure that the state excel in national and internationalchampionships.

Kwara has won a total of 100 gold, 95 silver and and 93 bronze medals since inception of the National Sports Festival.

The festival is scheduled to hold between 6th-15th of December, 2018 in Abuja.

The occasion was graced by many dignitaries, which include Ambassador Nihinlola Akanbi, Olukotun of Ikotun Oba Abdulrasaq Abioye, Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, Mallam Busari Ishola, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa and others.
