2019: Atunwa meets Prof. Oba

The gubernatorial candidate of the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Razak Atunwa on Saturday in Ilorin, met a top chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Prof. Shuaib Oba AbdulaRaheem.
The meeting which reportedly took place at the Adewole residence of Prof. Oba is coming on the heels of alleged frantic effort by the Magajis and Alanguas forum to unite Emirate indigenes irrespective of political affiliations to unite with the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, ahead of the general elections scheduled for next year.
The Secretary of the forum and Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Soliu Woru Mohammed told National Pilot last night that the community heads will hold a press conference on the issue this week at a yet-to-be named venue to state their position on the previous stories that had been trending on the issue.
Although the meeting was said to be “private”, a source said it was held in an atmosphere of camaraderie which saw Atunwa observed Ishai (night prayer) with Prof. Oba and supporters of the duo.
The Senate President and national leader of the PDP had on Saturday extended olive branch to his estranged political aides who are now in the opposition party to return to the Saraki dynasty which he described as their home.
Meanwhile, the Magajis and Alanguas forum has reportedly intensified efforts to have audience with other emirate indigenes yet to be met by the body.
National Pilot had exclusively reported the move by the forum to unite the emirate indigenes and gubernatorial aspirants across political parties with Saraki.
It was gathered that following the “successful engagement” of the forum so far with previous opposition leaders, the community heads have reached out to other emirate indigenes as well.
A source who spoke on the issue last night told our reporter that efforts to meet APC gubernatorial aspirant and proprietor of Sobi FM, Lukman Mustapha and son of late Governor of Kwara State, Hakeem Lawal were not successful.
He added that the committee “Will this week intensify efforts to meet the two APC gubernatorial aspirants.
