Gov Ahmed to Police: Adhere strictly to professional ethics

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has appealed to the Nigerian Police Force to provide a level ground for all political parties as the electioneering campaign commences across the country and during the 2019 general elections.
Ahmed, who made the call on Tuesday at the Government House Ilorin, when he received the new Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8, Adekunle Oladunjoye, stressed the need for the leadership of the police to be apolitical and work in accordance with the ethics of their profession.
According to the Governor, “The police should endeavour to provide security of lives and property to all political parties as electioneering campaign commences across the country.
“Security agents should not allow themselves to be polarised. They should ensure a level playin ground and allow key players to play according to the rule of the game”.
Governor Ahmed who decried the role of the police in the recent bye-election in the state, advised the Nigerian Police Force not to allow its officers used by politicians to achieve parochial and selfish ambition.
He also promised to intensify efforts on enlightenment campaign for the citizens to remain calm, law-abiding and go about their lawful businesses peacefully.
He assured that his government would provide the police necessary support to ensure security of lives and property across the state.
Governor Ahmed, who reminded the Police leadership about the Police Intelligent School project going on in the state, advised the leadership to fast track the project.
Oladunjoye had in his remarks informed the Governor that he was in the state for familiarisation tour as the new AIG Zone 8.
He added that he was recently appointed as the AIG zone 8, in charge of Kogi, Kwara and Ekiti and promised to ensure security of lives and property across the zone.
According to him, “I have seen my men and I discovered that they are in high spirits. I have also reminded them of their roles in beefing up security in the state and they are ready to play their roles without partial or favour”.
