KWASU launches dual learning education
The Acting Director, Institute of Distance and E-learning (IDEL), Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Dr. Rafiu Isiaka, has commended effort of the Department of Mass Communication for enlightening the students on the newly adopted E-learning programme of the University, as a means of promoting and making education easier for them.
The Director, who made the commendation while acknowledging the campaign, tagged “E-learning is not to extort, let’s show them why,” said the initiative was in line with the policy of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He explained that the Institution took the bold step to introduce the dual learning education system which implies the synergy between the conventional learning systems with online learning.
The Institute’s director said that KWASU does not follow the approach of other institutions towards dual learning system by way of giving a device to students; rather the school came up with pure online learning blended with physical class learning system in order to attain its world-class goal.
He stressed that the new educational system comes in form of situating an internet ready computer laboratory work station in all the colleges where students will have full access to online courses, adding that the Institution is working round the clock to ensure the online classes come to stay as soon as possible.
“As a world-class university, we want to train our students about the ongoing 21st century mode of learning transpiring all around the world, therefore making them the natives of digital tribe,” he said.
He then encouraged the students of the Institution, most especially the new intakes who will have an early exposure to the system, to maximize the opportunity to the fullest, stating that KWASU will not relent in building capacity in its students towards any challenges that may prevent them from acquiring sound and quality education.
