Commissioner hails KWSG on sports development
The Kwara State Government has been commended for creating enabling environment for development of Sports in the State.
Commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Hon. Muideen Alalade made this commendation on Sunday, while speaking at the Fifth edition of Al-Imam Aerobic Centre held at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
The commissioner who was represented by the Director of Sports of the Ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Olushola Sheu, said the exercises was possible because there is space to do it and this space was created by Government.
The Commissioner at the occasion commended members of Al-Imam Aerobic for joining hand with the Chairman to ensure the Association continue to war stronger.
While commenting on the importance of exercise, he described it as the major factor that helps the smoothness of the body and also enhances physical, mental and emotional balance through regular exercise.
He urged individual members of the Association and people in general to keep excercising themselves for the betterment of their health.
In his goodwill message, the Former Commissioner for Sports and Youth development in the State, Pharmacist Kale Ayo Nuhu, appreciated members for supporting the Chairman.
He said apart from impacting the health benefits of the body, exercise, it is another platform to create love and unity among the people.
He commended the commissioner for Sports for keeping the flag flying, noting that he has been trying all he could to sustain the legacy left behind.
Also Speaking, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara State Council, Mallam Umar Abdulwahab, pleaded with the State government to improve on the available facilities at the stadium.
Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Barrister Muhammed Akande, lauded the organizer of the Al-Imam Aerobic center for Keeping the flag flying.
He advised them to create a social platform that will keep people more informed on the importance and benefits of exercise.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organising committee, Bashir Olatinwo B. in his speech thanked the present and past Commissioner for Sports for honoring their invitation.
Bashir said, “Al-Imam Fitness Club is a gathering of both old and young men and women devoid of ethics and religion segregation.
According to him ” Our members cut across different professional background ranging from students, Lawyers, Bankers, Engineer, Journalist, Teachers, Security men and women, Politicians and Business men and women among others.
“The health benefits and general wellbeing of our members is paramount in our mind and we are doing everything humanly possible to reinstate that the value of exercise cannot be over emphasized ranging from physical to mental allertnes of our body system.
Commending the originator of the ideal Mallam Atolagbe Al-Imam for floating the club, he stated that, the benefits of it included proper weight management, efficient functioning of the hearth, control sugar level and improve blood circulation which minimise the rate of hypertension and stress.
At the end of the programme, the commissioner for Sports and Youth development Muideen Olaniyi Alalade and former commissioner, Kale Ayo and other personalities were decorated with medals and presentation of gift to honor some of the active members.
