JAAC: Kwara LGs share N812m for December

The 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State have shared a total sum of N812,210,549.33 from the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) for the month of December 2018
Also, all categories of workers at the local government would receive full salaries for same month.
The Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr. Joshua Omokanye stated this while addressing newsmen after the JAAC meeting held in Ilorin on Friday.
He said ” the 16 LGs shared N812,210,549.33 for December 2018, as the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers got N1,153,737,863.38 billion from this month (December) allocation.
Omokanye explained that the committee has agreed that all categories of LGs and SUBEB workers would receive full salaries for this month.
He said that LG and Local Government Education Authority pensioners would receive full pensions for the month as the amount stood at N485,457,029.41.
He revealed that 10 per cent Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from state government stood at N49,749,387.86 and Value Added Tax (VAT) N479,587,690.84 were also shared.
According to him, the sum of N279,646,975.46 was deducted at source as repayment for the councils’ salary related borrowings from banks.
The ALGON Chairman who is also Chairman, Oyun Local Government Area explained that statutory allocation for the month of December stood at N2,206,023,056.70 as against N2,233,378,945.36 in the previous month.
The Chairman noted that the fund was appropriated in line with the law guiding local government account which included; Teachers salary N1,153,737,863.38;LG and LGEA pension N485,457,029.41 among others.
He explained that the distribution of the allocations among the Local Government Councils in the state was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80) as amended by Law 15 of 2001.
“The fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account, noting that JAAC was an assembly of 16Local Government chairmen without the inference of state government”.
