Kwara schools set for cricket competition, April

 

The Kwara state cricket association has begun preparations towards the successful hosting of the Easter Holiday Cricket competition for secondary schools in Kwara state.
This much was discussed during a meeting of members of the Kwara state cricket association held at the conference Hall of the indoor sports of the Kwara state stadium.
In ensuring that the competition scheduled for April is devoid of hitches, it was decided that the cricket pitch dressed to the appropriate standard befitting of hosting an international event, hence Mr Obafemi Emmanuel Dada 1st vice chairman of the Kwara state cricket association decided to take up sole responsibility of clearing the cricket pitch and returning it to it’s acceptable standard.
It was also agreed upon that from next week, school masters representing all 16 secondary schools to take part in the Easter competition be engaged in coaching and officiating courses, this will be carried in conjunction with the Nigeria cricket federation.
Other Highlights of the meeting included the success story of the trio of Abdul Qadri Taiwo and Samson Rachael who were called up to the national female cricket team and will take part in the bilateral series against Rwanda.
Abolarin Rasheed from Kwara state also is part of the national under 19 junior male team. The technical Director, Wale Obalola says the state is capable of producing even more young talents with the necessary assistance and support.
Also in attendance were Dr Abdulraheem Isah, Chairman of the Kwara state cricket association, Mr. Mj Dauda, member of Cricket association, Dr Abubakar Jos, mathematics lecturer with the University of Ilorin.
