Muslims have been charged to impact positively on the less privileged in the society.
The Chief Imam of Offa, Uztaz Muyideen Hussein gave the charge in his sermon last Thursday during the fidau for Alhaja Asiawu Subuola Bello, mother of the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) at Offa.
He said, whoever that will not be forgotten on earth is somebody who has impacted lives before his or her death.
“The rich and affluence should ensure they impact the life of the downtrodden. If they do that, posterity will not forget them.
“The money the rich expended on servicing their cars alone is enough to uplift the life of the poor,” he said.
Speaking further, Imam Hussein said every creature should be wary of the day they will give account of their stewardship before their creator.
“Giving people food should be prompt. Whoever wants to give the needy food should do it at the appropriate time. Some people give handouts in a wrong way which often time aggravate the poor more,” he said.
Speaking with this medium, the KWARTMA boss, Alhaji Babatunde Bello, who is the second son of the deceased, said he is still in shock over the departure of his mother given that in the last 15 years, she never fell sick.
According to him, the late Alhaja Bello was a devoted Muslim who never discriminates against race or religion.
“She is a mother in a million and mama bestowed in me discipline and uprightness. She also taught me values.
“Because of her generosity, she was bestowed the Iya Sunnah Nasir-l-Islamiyat Congregation of Nigeria (NICON). She was the one who started Asalatu in the family compound in the early 70s,” he said, adding that he made it a duty to visit Offa every week in order to see his mother.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II and wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun.
