Kwara baseball, softball stakeholders to hold reconciliation meeting

 

All Baseball and Softball blocs in the state, representing different interest groups have agreed to settle their differences, even as they called for a reconciliatory meeting that will bring all stakeholders together.
The reconciliatory meeting has been scheduled to hold on Wednesday February 20th, 2019, at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Ilorin.
The meeting also called for an acceptable rules and regulations for the running of the game in the state.
Sanctioning the reconciliatory gathering at the meeting of the Kwara State Baseball and Softball Association in her office on Monday, the Chairperson of the association, Hajia Mariam A. Garba, who is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development expressed her readiness and determination to champion the development of the game in Kwara and Nigeria.
She charged the different blocs and stakeholders to put their differences behind, and work together for the upliftment of the game, and as well, use the platform to continue to empower the youths, to reduce social vices in the society.
The pioneer coach for baseball and softball in the state, Coach Jide Abidoye, who said that the game was introduced into the state in 1989 called for support in the organization of competitions, and to introduce the game to secondary schools in the state.He observed that baseball and softball is not fully recognized by the Kwara State Sports Council despite that the game had featured for the state at the National Sports Festival.
Femi Temitayo Abolarin, the Founder of Double ‘T Little League Baseball and Softball, who also supported the reconciliation meeting advised that the body be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Another former player and representative of Lubcon Baseball and Softball Club, Engr. Wole Faronbi said that the game can only grow, with the coming of people with ideas, wherewithal, money and passion.
Oladele Sunday of Kwara Sliders and Alhaji Mohammed Salaudeen, Hajia Maryam Ishola, Hon Rasheed Olowoshile and others also supported the call for a reconciliatory meeting, and also advised that all stakeholders be involved, to settle the crisis once and for all.
