The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, yesterday night mocked the opposition over their incessant replacement of police commissioners in Kwara State.
Saraki while addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters during the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) rally at Balogun Fulani ward in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the state said, “They (the opposition) are scared to come and meet our people that is why they are busy changing police commissioner every day but that won’t change our people’s resolve to continue to support us.
“The support we received shows that we are on ground with the people and they are still fully supporting us. Let the other party come and meet our people and see if they will receive them the way they received us.
“We are always with the people unlike them who are usually home during elections to deceive our people. If the APC is popular as they claim, let them come home and show their strength just like we did. They cannot intimidate our people with police”, he added.
At Akanbi ward 1,2 and 3, 2000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) decamped to the PDP.
The youths under the aegis of PMB Ambassadors publicly burned over 2000 brooms, while they embraced the “Umbrella”, the official logo of the PDP.
Meanwhile, Dr Saraki, yesterday led the Kwara State PDP campaign to Ilorin South, promising to deliver more prosperity to the people of his constituency and the state in general.
Saraki, who was received by tumultuous crowd across the local government, including, Fufu, its headquarters said he would consolidate on previous gains by delivering more dividend of democracy to the people of the state.
He added: “With your mandate, I have facilitated considerable constituency and intervention projects to Kwara State. Once again, I have come to seek for your renewed mandate and support. I will consolidate on previous gains and deliver more prosperity to our people.”
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to vote en masse for the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, whom he said has the capability to make Nigeria work again and eradicate poverty from the land.
Also, speaking, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Hon. Razak Atunwa, said if elected, his administration will focus attention on expanding opportunities for the youth through job creation and empowerment.
Atunwa said his administration would create enabling environment for businesses and entrepreneurship to thrive.
“Our demographic pattern demonstrates a dominant youth population, they must therefore be the central priority of our government,” Atunwa declared.
