Ilorin Airport records 85,826 passengers, 2,628 aircraft movement in 2018

Ilorin International Airport recorded a total number of 85,826 passengers and 2,628 aircraft movement in 2018, Pilot Aviation can report.

This is a marked increment above the 77,286 passengers and 2,566 aircrafts in 2017.

The Head of Corporate Affairs of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) of the airport, Mr. Adeyeoluwa Oluwakayode revealed this during a chat with this medium at the weekend.

He said, “Last year between January and December, we recorded a total number of 85,826 passengers and 2,628 aircraft movement. This is above the 77,286 passengers and 2,566 aircrafts in 2017.

According to him, the development symbolises growth of the airport despite the economic crunch in the country.

Giving a breakdown of the figures, Oluwakayode said that the month of June accounted for highest passenger movements through the airport with 8,445 passengers.

“While the month of June also has the highest aircraft movement with 248 in 2018.

He added that while an average of 6000 passengers passed through the airport from January to June, the figure increased in July to 6,345 and averaged 7000 till the end of 2017.

On aircraft movement, he said that no fewer than 194 aircraft landed at the airport in a month, while the airport recorded the highest figure of 248 in June.

He however attributed the achievements recorded to the upgrading of facilities at the airport.

The HoD said that more airlines had signified interest to operate from the airport by conveying passengers to the northern and eastern parts of the country.

He said that there  is  expectation of  more airlines operations at the airport in  2019, calling for support of aviation stakeholders in the state.
