For adopting President Muhammadu Buhari as the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), the Kwara State chapter of the party has suspended its National Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Galadima.
The ACPN chairman in the state, Elder Kuti Kayode announced the suspension of Galadima at a news conference in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Elder Kuti said Galadima took unilateral decision in adopting President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the official presidential candidate of the ACPN.
He also announced the decision of members of the party in the state to pitch their tent with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections.
The ACPN chairman added: “The Kwara State chapter which is the stronghold of ACPN in the country has decided to pitch its tent with the PDP. We are adopting the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Senator Bukola Saraki as Senator representing Kwara central, Hon. Razak Atunwa as the Kwara State governor and all other PDP candidates in the state.
“Furthermore, our candidates are willing to work with the PDP candidates across board. We have held meetings with our members across the 16 local government areas of the state and they are on the same page with us in our decision to adopt all the PDP candidates for elective offices in the 2019 general elections.”
Speaking further on the issue Wednesday, Kuti told our reporter in a telephone chat that they have lost confidence in Galadima adding that they are not leaving ACPN because of the development.
“We are not leaving the party but we will work together with the PDP. Instead of him to listen, he said that he suspended us and already he adopted Buhari meaning the offence he accused us of, he has also committed same.
“On whether we have informed the national leadership, we have nothing to do with the national body on this issue, we are dealing with Galadima directly. We have lost confidence in him and he can no longer represent us at national level.
“Majority of the state exco comprising I as the state chairman, the deputy, the secretary, PRO, youth leader, treasurer, financial secretary and many of the local government chairmen were all with us at the press conference”, he added.
